Reforming Secondary Education in India--A Blog

log on to: www.wsj.india.com and when WSJ page opens click on the Rural India Button on a top row. On the rural India page, in the right column click on Discuss rural India button. On the discuss page there is Rural India button in the right column; click on it to access a number of topic listed there. I have posted two topics: Poverty in India and Reforming Secondary Education for Rural India. I invite you and all idc-America members to participate in these discussions. My hope is that this exposure may lead us to identify retired business managers, engineers and scientists who are looking to be motivational speakers for the issues we discuss and since they are already in India may be they will visit rural India to motivate rural youth and leadership to become self-reliant through education and solving rural communities development issues including eradicating " energy poverty" in rural communities. Dear Supporter, The Alpha Foundation's 12 IRS formal schools and 5 bridge schools are gaining its momentum in all the campuses. While the classroom teaching and the focused input continues, this month, children took part in a range of co-curricular activities. Activities and competitions are held regularly in all the schools to enable the students to relate the classroom concepts with actual practical aspects. Throughout these programs, the students were highly enthusiastic and presented a praiseworthy performance. Some activities: The ART of living courses enriched children and parents with yoga, pranayama and guidelines for happy and healthy way of living. These programs brought together 314 children and 30 parents in IRS Fathenagar, Rasoolpura, Balanagar and Manikeshwari Nagar in Hyderabad. Creative activities were held for a week in IRS Bangalore with 205 children from kindergarten to class II taking part in "Learning by Doing" p
